Djema El-Fina, Marrakech.
By day it's the square that hosts snake charmers, gnawa dancers and performing monkeys. By night it's filled with story tellers, herbal sellers and some of Morocco's best food. What's shown here is where most of the food vendors are, which is really only a quarter of the whole square.
I tasted sheep's brain for the first time here (has a hint of liver but a consistency of tofu, salt really helps). The orange juice and fruit sellers seem to form the outer part of the food square as well as the escargot in broth vendors and the cinnamon ginger tea folks. The middle seems to be mostly boiled sheep, fish & chips and then various tables of grilled kabobs and tagines, with some harrira (spicy lentil soup) vendors interspersed in between.
The smell is incredible. I'm drooling already just thinking about it...
