May 01, 2004 | Window of a Tin House

Rice Village, Houston.

The village is one of Houston's nicest neighborhoods and because of its wealth there's an abundance of different types of housing. When I'm driving there, I try to pay a little bit more attention to what's around. Some of the houses have fantastic architecture. That, and I'm infinitely curious why some people don't put curtains up. I don't think I can really live in a place that has absolutely no curtains.

It was a coincidence, however, that I came across this particular house. I was driving towards the nearest Starbucks when a rattling sound from the back of my car made me pull over and pop the trunk. When I looked up I saw the rows of white flowers and the one lonely window. It seemed like too good of a picture to pass up.
